Rainy Day

Students illustrated our March Poem of the Month called, "Rainy Day." We used Kidpix to draw an umbrella and a rainy day scene. Here are the words to our poem:

Rainy Day

Plip! Plop! Raindrop!
I'll stay inside today.
Plip! Plop! Raindrop!
I'll call a friend to play.
Plip! Plop! Raindrop!
I know my friend will say.
Plip! Plop! Raindrop!
We'll have fun today!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

On Wednesday, it was Dr. Seuss' birthday. All week we have been reading different Dr. Seuss books and making different projects. This week in computer center, we completed a rhyming activity where we had to match two pictures that rhymed. Keep practicing rhyming words at home! Here is the final product we created:

Dear Valentine

We illustrated our February Poem called, "Dear Valentine," during computer lab using KidPix. Here are the words to the poem:

Dear Valentine

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Candy is sweet,
And so are you!
I planted a seed,
And look what grew!
A tree of love,
That is just for you!

Faces of Room 8

This week we've been learning a lot about Martin Luther King Jr. We celebrate all that he has done for America, including allowing all of us to go to the same school together! We drew self-portraits to show how different we all look. Even though we have different hair, eyes, and skin color, we can still play with each other and be kind to one another.

The Snowman

We finished illustrating our January poem of the month called, "The Snowman." Notice if your child added all of the details from the words of the poem! Here are the words to our poem:

The Snowman

One cold and quiet winter day,
I made a snowman fat.
His eyes were coal, his hat was dad's.
My sister thought of that!
I got a carrot for his nose,
A broom for him to hold.
I wrapped my scarf around his neck,
To keep him from the cold!

Take a look at our cute snowmen!

First Day of Winter

In December, we learned a poem called, The First Day of Winter. Students used the words from the poem to illustrate a winter scene, from the viewpoint of being inside a house. Here are the words to the poem:

First Day of Winter

Fall has fallen.
Winter rises.
Now's the time
For cold surprises.
Icicles' long pointed noises.
Flakes like daisies, diamonds, roses.
Snow up to the windowsill
And everything so very still.
